Help Sled Dogs
Tim Colbath, co-owner of Alaska's Extended Life Animal Sanctuary in Nikiski, uses food in an attempt to
gain the trust of a neglected sled dog during a rescue of 11 animals from an abandoned yard in Kasilof.
The young female dog's shelter had been flooded with putrid mounds of feces that accumulated while it
lived without care. The dog died shortly after being rescued, partly due to having consumed the putrid
water. [AELAS/Pet-Abuse.com]
'Action Alert' from Sled Dog Action Coalition, September 17, 2004:
Please crosspost - [Sig] Stormo, an Iditarod hopeful, had his dogs seized for a
second time
. One dog has a [micro]chip from the Iditarod and two have chips
from the Yukon Quest. Please keep these dogs from being adopted by mushers
who will force them to race in the Iditarod or Quest. Adopt a dog yourself. The
dogs were found starving and tied out on short chains. One dog had the chain
imbedded in her neck. To adopt, call the Kodiak Animal Shelter at [EMAIL
PROTECTED].
